I'm still here. But no one else is.

So goes the world. A little sad, really.

I'm here too!

and presumably howells is too? -- his reasons for closing the board implied that if he stopped actively defending it, it would be taken over by spam. But that hasn't happened.

Indeed, cc. Here's hoping there is still some life in this board. I, for one, would be sorry to see it vanish.

It hasn't happened because I stopped new registrations. Feel free to use it all you want, not that it was used all that much in the past.

Here I am. I check in here occasionally to see if anyone has posted anything interesting. This reminds me of when some of the usenet newsgroups that I used to frequent were abandoned by most users in favor of web-based message boards (like this one). Now the evolution seems to be away from the message boards and onto Facebook, except that one can hardly call that "evolution" when it has gone from thoughtful, lengthy discussion to sound-bite "like/like/like" style discourse.

I wonder what will take over from Facebook? And I wonder how long it will be before nobody uses Facebook anymore because it's yesterday's news.

And here we have a new GP & Rumour album coming out soon. Imagine the discussion that would have taken place here?

yeah, I see Facebook, in this context, as just a way of getting news out. Sure, we can ostensibly comment and discuss, but we're more just a captured audience for promoting new releases. Nothing wrong with that (I have music to promote, too), but it's a step down from here.

Facebook only gets worse and worse...soon it will join MySpace in CyberLimbo, where it rightfully belongs. Unfortunately the great message boards of the past (like this one) are already there, though very undeservedly.

You guys crack me up. There's nothing to stop you from discussing it here. Same people who were here a month or two ago are still here. And there was never much in the way of discussion going on here anyway.

The only thing that's changed is I've stopped new registrations. I don't see any need to delete the board just yet, but I can't handle all the auto registrations that are mostly spammers and trojan horses.

It reminds me a bit of that George Romero classic "Dawn of the Dead" where the zombies return to the shopping mall, their comfort zone. Only difference is that they all eventually get slaughtered. So far, no bloodshed here, thankfully.

I only said what I said above because I was under the impression that the Board would not be be here much longer. I knew you weren't taking any new registrations but I thought that the next step you were going to take was to totally delete the Board itself. I'm glad the Board will still be up when the new album arrives. Thank You.

Boy I'm relieved. I missed you guys. Not everyone wants to talk/read/hear/discuss and generally hash over everything the Chairman's done like you do. FB is a billboard and there's only so much you can fit on one.
If I recall correctly the new album is set to come out in October and the movie's in late November.
I haven't been able to find any track listings for the movie soundtrack but if I was a betting woman I'd bet that "Life Get's Better" will be on it.
Anyone else hearing anything new? Have you seen the movie trailer? I would love to hear some honest feedback from those of you who have. BTW you can see quite a bit about the movie on the IMDb site, including the trailer.

I've started a thread for the film. Let's discuss and see what we zombies are really made of.
