? Why isn't GP playing anywhere in the southeast? Namely
? ATLANTA....or at least somewhere relatively nearby.
I will be playing the Point in Atlanta before the end of May.

?
? 1.) What are GP*s favorite places to play in the U.S. and
? 2.) why?
My favorite places to play are places that are full of people who are there to hear me.

? 1. Any chance Razor will publish his books and stories? We hear
? he's prolific and want to read his prose.
1. My new novel _The Thylacine's Nest_ is being shopped at various publishing houses at the moment.
? 2. Some writers he's mentioned include Hesse, Kerouac, and Least
? Heat Moon. Who else has he been reading lately?
2. I am reading _The Way Things Aren't_ by Steven Randall, Jim Naureckas, and Jeff Cohen, and rereading _The Best of Myles_ by Flann O'Brien.
? 3. Any chance razor might release a live GP CD like the fine
? Marshall Crenshaw Razor live CD?
3. We will record a show, with the band, at the Bottom Line in New York on June 3rd and 4th. If it turns out well. keep your eyes and ears open.
? 4. Could GP tell us if there's a chance Razor or Dakota might
? release more demos on CD like the good ones on the _Christmas
? Cracker_ EP. Is he planning any future EPs or holiday releases
? for Dakota?
4. No further Christmas records are planned and no demo releases in the immediate future.
? 5. We like his work on the Richard Thompson, Otis Blackwell,
? and _In their Own Words_ projects. What's his next tribute
? or collaboration?
5. My next tribute is a G.P. tribute, which, of course, I won't be appearing on. It's being put together by an obscure New Jersey label called Buy or Die Records. The working title is _Piss and Vinegar_. I believe Pat DiNizzio (Smithereens) and Marshall Crenshaw are among the artists contributing.
? 6. Will he be on Letterman at the end of March? What date?
6. My "open invitation" for Letterman seems to have been nixed due to Letterman's increased ratings.
? 7. Hoping for a more eclectic and rare collection of b-sides
? and demos than the Rhino _Passion_ set. Razor?
7. Ask Razor
? 8. What about releasing the Smithereens unplugged collaboration?
8. Ask Razor
? 9. Any chance VH-1 America will air the Whistle Test?
9. VH-1 airing the Whistle Test performance? I doubt it. It would frighten people--me included.
For Tom Krueger
1. The novel is called _The Thylacine's Nest_ and is at several publishers at the moment. Don't hold your breath. These people move slowly. A novel I wrote, _The Great Trouser Mystery_ was released in the UK in the late 70s. Don't ask me how to find a copy. Also, I have some short stories written, one to be published later this year in something called _Rolling Stone's Alterama_ on Dell. I don't know about fitting in with anything else. I just do it.
2 The current touring band is (or was): bass: Kenny Aaronson, drums: Denny McDermott, keyboards: Mitch Margold. As you can tell by _12 Haunted Episodes_, Brinsley's playing would be entirely inappropriate. I don't count anything out, but again, don't hold your breath.
3. I am listening to _Swear to Tell the Truth_ by Paul Rishell on Tone-Cool Records.

? Perhaps you could ask both Razor and Tie and GP why there are
? no tour dates in Texas ? GP did a great "unplugged"set in Austin
? last year and I was hoping to catch GP plus band on the spring
? tour.
The attendances in Texas are, overall, so poor for me generally that it's not worth the cost of bringing a band there.

?
? -how can copies of GP's books be obtained?
? -any chance of the Marble Arch elpee being reissued on CD?
? -any singles/b-sides/videos coming out to promote the new album?
1. My first novel _The Great Trouser Mystery_ was published in the UK in the late 70s. No idea how you'll ever get a copy. My new novel _The Thylacine's Nest_ is being shopped around.
2. I believe Razor & Tie are looking into the possibility of releasing _Live at Marble Arch_.
3. No singles. No b sides. No videos.

? The usual Guitar Player questions:
?
? What guitars are you playing on the new disc/tour?
? Is there an interseing story behind the telecaster?
? What do you listen to these days?
? Have you ever thought of production?
On the new disc I use a Guild D55 circa '78 and on one track ("The First Day of Spring") my newly acquired Gibson J200 circa '92, which I have been using on tour for all open tuning songs. The Tele I purchased from Seymour Duncan after my 59 Tele that I bought from Nick Lowe in 1976 got stolen. I listen to _Swear to Tell the Truth_ by Paul Rishell on Tone-Cool Records. I have been producing my records since 1988 but am not thrilled with the idea of producing anyone else. Songbooks? I have no idea.

?
? how come Graham played solo here in New Orleans when he did
? his show recently? (He was opening for the Jayhawks). Why
? didn't he play with a band?
I played solo in New Orleans because I had not started rehearsing with the band at that point. We began a few weeks later in preparation for the tour.

? I have one. Will Mr. Parker and Elvis Costello ever do a project
? together? Pleeeease...!
Me & Costello "doing a project together"? Two overwordy, self-important nerds whining continually at the same time? I don't think so!
